Rod-Rokker II

The Rod-Rokker II by Pierfisher
The Rod-Rokker II by Pierfisher is a complete re-design of the original Rod-Rokker! By removing the wheel and adding all mechanical fasteners, the new Rod-Rokker II is smoother, stronger, and more aesthetically pleasing than the original Rod-Rokker. The Rod-Rokker II has been specifically designed to make jigging from a pier easier without damaging your fishing rod.
When jigging without a rod rocker you either keep the rod in your hands while moving the rod up and down or by resting the rod on the rail of the pier. This results in two problems:
1) Resting a rod directly on the pier rail while moving the rod up and down especially if it is a 12 to 15 foot rod can get very tiring and can cause sore arm and shoulder muscles. and 2) Over a very short time it will damage the EVA grip on the rod handle.
The Rod-Rokker II by Pierfisher was designed and built by a pier fisherman that has been fishing from ocean piers for decades. After ruining the EVA grips on numerous fishing rods I had to come up with a design that was practical, easy to use and cost effective. The result of trial and error was the Rod-Rokker II. Made with corrosive resistant material it can withstand ocean pier fishing with minimal maintenance. Click to Buy Now. Now also available on Ebay

Why the Rod-Rokker II by Pierfisher
Yes, there are other rocking devices available for pier jigging but this is what makes the Rod-Rokker II special from other rod rockers.
It is light weight, compact and is a one-piece design. You have enough to carry around you don't need any more heavy and bulky items. The Rod-Rokker weighs approximately 14 ounces and folds to a compact 10" x 3 1/2" x 2". The one piece design makes it easy to clamp on the rail of the pier without holding on to a rod rocker with one hand and trying to affix a separate c-clamp with the other. This pier jigging fishing rocker will accommodate all sizes of standard fishing rods without modification.
The design of the Rod-Rokker II also allows for a quick change of rods. Other rockers require that you clamp a separate piece onto the fishing rod before being able to use their rocker. Our design requires no clamping on the rod itself. Just merely place the rod in the holder and start jigging. Need to change rods? Simply lift it off the rod rocker and place the other rod on.

You Have Your Rod-Rokker, Now What?
Although the Rod-Rokker II is a simple design there are a few ways to
use it that may not be evident at first. Our rod rocker design is based
on the premise that simple is always best but being simple doesn't
always present itself wit the best way to use it. The tendency for
anyone using a rod rocker has to do with the automatic motion one has
used previous to using a rod rocker. When you feel a strike you, by
habit, lift the rod to set the hook, right? Well, if the fish are
running this can wear your arms out quickly. As can happen when the
Spanish Mackerel and Blue Fish are running you can catch several at
once and your arm will get weary and sore. But not with the Rod-Rokker II.
You only need to use one hand to jig with the Rod-Rokker II. Without it, you are using either both hands to constantly lift the rod, or you are resting the rod on the rail and the constant motion starts wearing out the EVA on the handle. Then when you feel a strike the tendency is to raise the rod's tip end quickly to set the hook. Usually this is done by grabbing the rod with both hands and lifting. Not so with the Rod-Rokker II. Upon feeling a strike push down with the hand that was rocking the rod. This will raise the tip end and with the other hand start reeling in your fish. The Rod-Rokker II will support your rod while you do so and prevent a strain on the rod where it would have had a small point of contact with the rail. I have seen rods break in two at that point without the Rod-Rokker II to support the rod. Then, when you have reeled in the fish close enough to lift over the rail pick up the rod and land your catch.
The Rod-Rokker ii is also extremely helpful when you snag into a large fish like a shark or ray that you really don't want to catch. The rocker gives you strength to fight the large unwanted creature so that your rod is not slipping left and right on the edge of the rail and as I have seen occasionally a rod breaking due to the strain at that single point.
Other rod rockers require some special movement to remove the rod from the base clamp when you get a strike. If the catch is extra heavy, sometimes that becomes a little difficult to do. NOT Rod-Rokker II! All you have to do is lift. No back or forth motion to release the upper rocker from the base. Just simply lift. The Rod-RoKker II incorporates ball bearings at the pivot points to ensure longevity and smooth operation.
Extremely easy to maintain, just an occasional drop or two of oil or a squirt of WD40 at the swivel point is all you need to do. Rinsing it off a little with fresh water after a day's fishing is also recommended.

Can You Use Your Rod-Rokker II For Bottom Fishing!?
Absolutely! Although the Rod-Rokker II is usually used for jigging it can also be very useful when bottom fishing from a pier. How many times have you had a rod leaning up against the railing of a pier and a stiff wind causes the rod to lose its grip on the notch cut into the rail and slide down to the left or right banging into other fisherman's rods. Embarrassing, right? Or sometimes it slides all the way down to the deck possibly breaking off the tip. Or when you get a strike on one and it slips over and knocks the other rod down. Now you have two to worry about when you are trying to fight one fish.
Well, by attaching the Rod-Rokker II to the pier railing you can rest the rod on the rod rocker and it will hold the rod firmly in place. lessening the chance of the rod slipping off the rail due to wind or a fish bite.
So, whether you are jigging or bottom fishing, take the Rod-Rokker II with you. You will find that you will find fishing to be so much easier with our rod rocker. In fact, get two as at most piers you're allowed two rods per person and these will hold your rods in position and easy to grab and set the hook when a fish bites.
Happy Fishing!
